The [[Marshal of the Corps]], Deputy Marshal of the Corps, [[COMFORCECOM]], and Deputy COMFORCECOM retain supreme promotion and awards authority within the RMMC and can promote and confer awards to any member of the RMMC up to the limits as dictated by the various [[Admiralty Orders]], [[Corps Directives]], and awards manuals.<br />

Approved awards will be sent from the Awards Department to the RMMC Awards Coordinator, who in turn will send them to the appropriate echelon or MARDET Commander to award. When awarding, please use the following system for generating an order number.<br />
<br />
Unit name – last 2 digits of the current year – the 2 digit for the current month – a letter for the number of awards issued for the month – Reason for award. An order number allows for improves tracking of awards issued to the individual Marine and to prevent duplication.<br />

In the case that an award cannot be issued by a lower echelon, it will be issued by the Expeditionary Force or CORP Commanding officer. Major awards will still be issued by Marine Forces Command or by the Marshal of the Corp or the RMMC Awards Coordinator with the approval of the Marshal of the Corps.<br />
