''Matthias'' was first brought into commission on 25 March 2011 under the command of [[LCDR]] Anne Zecca, by order of [[Bureau of Ships|BuShips]]. This ship was an upgrade of the {{gns|Barbara Bancroft|SD-32}}, which at the time was listed as a Katana-class LAC. Anne Zecca, also serving as Director of Membership Processing, [[BuPers]], launched this ship in [[wikipedia:Ocala, Florida|Ocala, Florida]]. This served the first true ship in the [[Grayson Space Navy]], and remained the only ship in the Grayson fleet until the commissioning of {{gns|Albion|DD-42}} (DD-42) on 31 October 2011. The crew of the ''Matthias'' continued to serve until 29 April 2014, when it was upgraded to {{gns|Nathan|CL-14}}, and the ''Matthias'' put into the [[Active Reserves]].
