Initially entering commission in May of 2017, ''Justicar'' began service assigned to [[Victoria Station]] in [[Tenth Fleet]], out of [[wikipedia:Nanaimo, BC|Nanaimo, BC, Canada]] under the command of then-[[CAPTJG|Junior Grade Captain]] [[Sir]] Mark Gledhill, [[KDE]]<ref name="BSD170503">[[BuShips Directive 1705-03]]</ref>; this was an upgrade for the crew of {{hms|Avalon|CL-395}}, which was turned over to the [[Royal Manticoran Reserve Fleet|Active Reserve]] for reassignment. A year later, almost to the day, the crew of HMS ''Justicar'' was once again upgraded, this time to {{hms|Centaur|CLAC-02}}, sending ''Justicar'' herself to the Active Reserve to await reassignment.<ref name="BSD180501">[[BuShips Directive 1805-01]]</ref><br />
