==History==
Commissioned in November of 2017, HMS ''Unicorn'' served in Second Fleet out of Rochester, Minnesota, initially under the command of [[Captain of the List]] [[Sir]] Garret Bitker; her initial crew transferred over from {{hms|Merlin|CA-270}}, which was returned to the [[Royal Manticoran Reserve Fleet|Active Reserve]].<ref name="BSD171104">[[BuShips Directive 1711-04]]</ref> Less than a fortnight later, ''Unicorn'' was assigned as a unit of Task Group 21.1, replacing the now-decommissioned ''Merlin.''<ref name="ND17NOV01">[[Naval Directive 17NOV-01]]</ref>

In early January of 2018, the 30th LAC Wing was stood up, assigning {{hmlac|Superior|LAC-004}}, {{hmlac|Sgian Dubh|LAC-012}}, and {{smlac|Arminius|LAC-001}} to ''Unicorn''<ref name="2FO1801A"/>; later in May of that same year, command shifted to the then-COLAC, Captain (JG) Jeremy Kittleson.<ref name="BSD180503">[[BuShips Directive 1805-03]]</ref>
