Because of the similarities between the US Navy the Royal Manticoran Navy as created by David Weber for the Honorverse Novels, the following Directive should explain how and why the differences are being handled in the TRMN

Billets are positions within both Navies.
Ratings are specialties within each Navies.

Within the Honorverse Billets such as [[Master-at-Arms]], [[Bosun]], and [[Quartermaster]] ARE not Career Paths, but positions only.

This is and was a decision David Weber had intentionally made for creative purposes and the TRMN cannot and will not over rule him.

While there are many former Boatswain Mates, Master at Arms (Commander Rickard for instance) or Quartermasters (myself for example) within the TRMN, we are not participating as US Naval Personnel but members of {{trmn}}.

If you or any of your members current or in the future have such questions in the future, please refer to this Directive.
