Due to the confusion over how signatures should be listed in official correspondence, and due to the fact that previous guidance on this subject has been ignored because it was not promulgated via Admiralty Order or Naval Directive, this Naval Directive is necessary. Therefore:

As of the date of this Order, by my hand, and by the authority of the Sovereign, Queen of Manticore Elizabeth III, I hereby Order that, effective immediately, the following (previously promulgated by RADM Diane Bulkeley) shall be the standard for all official signature blocks:

Lord/Lady (if a landed peer) Sir/Dame (if knighted) NAME, any post nominals awarded, limited to the top 3 ONLY<br>
Rank (For all positions other than those on the Royal Council, also append RMMC, RMA, RMN, RHN, GSN, etc..)<br>
Position (If you have more than one hat, please use the proper position for the official correspondence, i.e., do not sign it as Chief of Staff, BuComm if you are posting as a Squadron CO, etc…)<br>
Ordinal number, level, and Landed Peerage (if any)

Signature will be a maximum of four lines as set forth above. This Directive is in accordance with the guidance previously issued, and recently affirmed, by the Bureau of Communications. Please see my signature block, below, for an example.

This order made under my hand will be effective 0001 hours 03-JAN-17
