He was appointed to the position on 3 April 2018 and promoted to Chief Petty Officer as part of the appointment. Captain (JG) Matheny stills serves as the First Space Lord's communication officer, and has been assigned to assist the Wiki Team as part of that billet. He also assists the Medusa Development Team as a business analyst, where his primary duty is to write software specifications as requested by the development team.
