As of the date of this directive, by the authority of the Grand Alliance Joint Chiefs of Staff, the will of Parliament, and with the blessing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth III of the Star Kingdom of Manticore, and Empress Elizabeth I of the Star Empire of Manticore; we hereby bestow upon Chief Petty Officer Anthony Schienschang II the Star Empire of Manticore’s highest award for valor. | |||

While vacationing in Bermuda, Chief Petty Officer Anthony Schienschang II was SCUBA diving with a tour group when he observed that the air tank on one of his fellow divers had become completely detatched from its restraints and was drifting, attached to the unaware diver only by the regulator hose. Noticing that the hose was also beginning to detach, CPO Schienschang acted quickly and within 45 seconds had swam over, reconnected the regulator hose and belted the drifting tank back into place. Despite not being a certified diver, CPO Schienschang recognized a potentially fatal situation and put himself in danger to effect a rescue. Were it not for the keen observation and level headed response of CPO Schienschang, the fellow diver may have panicked and drowned had his air supply been suddenly cut off at the depths where this incident took place. | |||
