HMS Rigel (BC-591) was a Nike-class Battlecruiser of the Royal Manticoran Navy. Commissioned in 2014 as the third and final identity of a First Fleet crew that had begun as HMS Artegal, she served nearly a decade before her decommissioning on 17 November 2023.
History
Rigel was commissioned on 4 March 2014 in the First Fleet at Alexandria, Virginia, under CAPTSG Eric Schulman; she was the third identity of a crew that had launched as HMS Artegal and recommissioned as HMS Leopard.[1] Command passed to CAPTJG Ed Wandall in April 2014,[2] to CAPTJG Alice Fawcett in October 2015,[3] and to CAPTJG Christopher Vicchitto in June 2021.[4] Under Fawcett she was assigned to Battlecruiser Squadron 11 within Battlecruiser Division 112.[5] Based in northeastern Pennsylvania, the crew held BetaCon as its home convention. Rigel was decommissioned on 17 November 2023, her crew transferred for reassignment.[6]
