A Steadholder is a Grayson Peerage broadly equivilent to a Duke or Duchess<ref name="TRMN Membership Handbook">([[Membership Handbook]]).
A '''Steadholder''' is a [[Protectorate of Grayson]] peer of broadly equivalent rank to that of a [[Star Kingdom of Manticore|Manticoran]] [[duke]] or duchess <ref name="TRMN Membership Handbook">Membership Handbook</ref>.  However, steadholders are considered to have far broader powers, exercising "head of state" sovereignty withing their [[honorverse:Steading|steading]], while dukes/duchesses hold their lands in fief from the crown.


These are the forms of address, as given in the handbook:
Referred to formally as: His Lordship/Her Ladyship the Steadholder (Name of Steading)
Formal address: His/Her Grace the Steadholder (Steading)
Informal address: Your Grace (the first time) and Sir or Ma’am every time afterward. If you are a friend, you may use the
name of his or her steading. Close friends and relatives may use first names, but only in non-formal social occasions.
