A squad is a military unit used in The Royal Manticoran Navy: The Official Honor Harrington Fan Association, Inc. (TRMN) by the Royal Manticoran Army and the Royal Manticoran Marine Corps.
In canon, a squad is a subsidiary unit of a platoon made up of approximately 10 soldiers or marines led by a sergeant. The squad may be divided into two fireteams.
Royal Manticoran Army
A squad is a Tier 1 chapter. The required minimum complement is:[1]
2+ Total members
NCOIC: Sergeant (E-5)
plus one additional member with no minimum rank.
Atmospheric Command Section
For Atmospheric Command units, a section is the equivalent to a ground force squad. It would be considered one craft with its crew.
Chapter nomenclature
RMA chapters have regimental names,[2] so a Tier 1 chapter portrays a subsidiary squad of the named regiment.
Example: Shadow Vale Regiment, Alpha Company, First Platoon, First Squad.
Tier 1 chapters are Attached Elements of larger chapters,[3] so will take their name as a squad of the parent chapter. If a Tier 1 chapter upgrades to a Tier 2 or larger chapter, it can then select its own regimental name.
Royal Manticoran Marine Corps
A shipboard Marine Detachment (MarDet) may be squad sized.
