BuTrain Quick-Start Guide

Introduction

Welcome to TRMN! Courses are a big part of what we do; they cover all sorts of things in the Honorverse and the real world. We even have a course about TRMN. Here’s how to navigate all that.

First Courses

Visit the Course Request Form and request GPU-TRMN-0001 Introduction to TRMN.

1. Within a day or two you should receive an email with a link to the first course. There are three video courses, and then you can take any of the starter courses in BuTrain.
2. Now's a good time to pick your local chapter. When you do that and complete Intro to TRMN, you earn your Training Ribbon.
3. We recommend that you start with the first rank courses for your branch, but as long as you have the prerequisites you can take any course in BuTrain.

Escalation

If it takes more than 7 days for an instructor to send you a course or to grade it and send it back, then refer to the BuTrain Course Escalation charts for Military and Civilian branches. Look for the department and course you are waiting on. Go up one box from the Instructors box to find their supervisor. If the box has a tab, then find your course’s department and use that email address.

Send the supervisor an email, with a CC to the instructor, to ask about it. If they don’t respond within a day, go up one box to find the next CO. Send that person an email, with a CC to everyone so far. They should respond within a day. If they don’t, then send an email to their CO, and so on up the chain of command. Please don’t wait a long time for this: your escalation alerts us to the problem.
