What can a new (Tenth Fleet) wiki editor get started with?

• (Reference: GW2 Welcome Wrapper)
• This question is here in an effort to answer the question I now realize I had, but didn't realize I had when I started actually trying to do things in TFW. These are the things that will appear in the "Welcome to Tenth Fleet Wiki message sent to new editors"; basically, a short, quick orientation.
• Referenced from Guild Wars 2 Wiki:
  • There is a message sent to a new editor when User access is granted (autoconfirmed Users?). This messge is basically a page that acts as a wrapper to deliver the bulk of what it's intended to deliver: a well-designed Welcome message which contains a few links helpful to have in getting started, a few links for wiki-related communication, some links leading to where to find something to work on, some links to useful pages for the creation of (new articles or pages(, or expansion of stubs?)), and a few links on where to find icons. (my job here is to use/adapt that as a resource for TFW). It also includes a message on wiki etiquette, and concludes with message congratulating the new editor, including a solution if the new editor still has questions or concerns. This is all put together as a Template named {{Template:Welcome}}. Towards the bottom of the page, there is a section containing helpful resources, and a section with a couple of other resources to also check out. At the foot of the page (within the source, not seen on the page when looking at it in the Read tab) is the equivalent of [[Category:TenthFleet]]. Summarized, it would look something like this:

Uncategorized Notes

• On the page [[Category:Orders|Category:Orders]], the Subcategories [[Category:Ship_Orders]] and [[Category:Ship%27s_Orders]] exist. This is possibly an oversight that should be brought to Admin's attn.
• Should we be removing self-referential links? (e.g. the [[Category:Royal_Manticoran_Marine_Corps]] page is categorized with [[Category:Royal_Manticoran_Marine_Corps]]).

What are reasons why we use "Show Preview" when working with Redirects?

• Sometimes the target isn't the exact same as what looks to be a working link. For example, when creating a new Redirect for an abbreviation (eg "AD") that does not have a Redirect yet, the full-form name (eg "Army Directive") appears on the page to be linked to an existing page; Army Directive, in this instance. The link doesn't actually target [[Army Directive]]; It's actually marked up as [[Army_Directives|Army Directive]]. so the target is Army_Directives.
  • The other possibility from this example could be that the markup appears as [[Army Directive]], but that would have to rely on an existing Redirect to the target link [[Army_Directives]].
• It's possible to generate a informational warning message from clicking Show Preview. When creating a redirect for the abbreviation "ACS" (presumably targeting the page name "Astro Control System"), the warning message informed that a page exists with the page name [[Royal_Manticoran_Astro_Control_Service]]. Because of this warning the target it suggests is checked for target accuracy, and the target in the Redirect page can be adjusted accordingly; this saves extra steps/work in the future.

• I need to figure out what's going on with [1], in regards to the Redirect aspect of the page.
