Active BuShips Directive 1709-03 was issued 09 September 2017 under the authority of the Third Space Lord. It decommissions GSNLAC Vital Grandin (LAC-021) and places it in the Active Reserves.

Chief Pylypow:
Effective 0001 on 9 September 2017, GSNLAC Vital Grandin (LAC-021) is to immediately stand down all present assignments and/or missions, and subsequently ordered to return to HMSS Victoria for her decommissioning and crew transfer.
Upon arrival, you and your crew shall make GSNLAC Vital Grandin ready in all respects for decommissioning; strike eight bells, haul down the colors, and secure the watch.
You are further ordered to relinquish command of LAC-021 to the Bureau of Ships in the person of CAPTJG Sir Justin Dupras, who shall hold temporary command for the duration of her transfer to Grayson for processing and inspection.
The following crewmembers are hereby transferred to HMSS Greenwich (SS-001):
- PVT Linda Carmichael-Coulombe, RMMC (RMN-4573-17)
- PVT Cayden Carmichael-Coulombe, RMMC (RMN-4574-17)
- PVT Georges Coulombe, RMMC (RMN-4575-17)
- C2 Aiden Mullany, SFC (RMN-4378-17)
- C1 Sera Mullany, SFC (RMN-4397-17)
The following crewmembers are hereby transferred to GNSS Katherine Mayhew (SS-001):
Upon her successful transfer to Grayson, LAC-021 is scheduled to be transferred to the Active Fleet Reserves, following inspection and any repairs deemed necessary. This vessel shall be made available for recommissioning at a later date.
