Royal Manticoran Marine Corps

The Royal Manticoran Marine Corps (abbrev. RMMC) is a branch of The Royal Manticoran Navy: The Official Honor Harrington Fan Association, Inc. (TRMN), representing the space and land combat forces of the Star Kingdom of Manticore. The most basic unit of the RMMC is the MarDet. members of this branch wear the uniform of the RMMC and are addressed by Marine ranks.

In the Honorverse

Within the context of the Honorverse canon, Marines form an integral part of a ship's crew; they man the ship's weapons, are crucial to damage control and are used for boarding parties or to provide a quick-reaction ground force on a planet's surface. While Marines can be deployed as a garrison force, such arrangements usually last only until they are relieved by Army units.

Leadership & Command

Management of the RMMC is handled through various Commands which each manage a particular area of the RMMC.

Marshal of the Corps

The RMMC is commanded by the Marshal of the Corps (abbrev. MotC), who is an ex-officio member of the Grand Alliance Joint Chiefs of Staff. They act as the Commandant of the Royal Manticoran Marine Corps. The MotC issues Corps Directives, and is assisted by the Deputy Marshal of the Corps (DMotC), as well as the Sergeant Major of the Corps. These three are the overall "Command Triad" for the RMMC.

Marine Forces Command

Marine Forces Command, or FORCECOM, Corps combines the functions of the Bureau of Ships and the Bureau of Personnel for the RMMC. This command is responsible for MARDET creation, personnel moves, and promotions.

Intelligence Command

Intelligence Command - INTELCOM - comprises the RMMC liaisons to the Bureau of Planning and is responsible for coordinating marketing, event planning, and recruitment within the Royal Manticoran Marine Corps with the Bureau of Planning. The commander of the Intelligence Corps reports to Marshal of the Corps

Training Command

Training Command - TRACOM - Comprises RMMC staff assigned to the Bureau of Training and is responsible for administrating the RMMCTC Enlisted Training Center, RMMCTC Officer Training Center, RMMCTC Warrant Officers School, RMMCTC War College, and RMMCTC Technical Specialties College.

The RMMC's operational units are assigned to a numbered Expeditionary Force based on their locations. The areas of operation for these numbered Forces are coterminous with the areas of the Naval Districts of the RMN. These Expeditionary Forces are:

Orders

Corps Directives

Corps Directives are issued by the Commandant of the RMMC and apply to the entire branch. The expand on and amplify Admiralty Orders and Joint Chiefs Directives.

Force Orders

Force Orders are operational orders issued by COMFORCECOM regarding MarDets and other RMMC units.

Promotions

Marines can be promoted when they have meet the "Time in grade", the "Time in Service" and passed any necessary courses. The courses can be found at the RMMC Enlisted Training Center.
