BuTrain Directive 007-23 was issued 2023 by the Bureau of Training. The directive establishes the Ground Forces Training Command.

Re: Establishment of the Ground Forces Training Command

In order to streamline administration and reduce staffing demands, BuTrain is removing all branch academies as independent entities and bringing them into functional Academies that group like academies with each other. There will be ground forces, naval, and civilian academies. Whilst academies are grouped, the individual courses generally remain the same, and each branch retains it’s rank series and for most of the branches their speciality courses are retained.

Academy CO’s will oversee each academy with the assistance of a chief of staff. Under them will be two colleges – one for the main line rank courses for all the branches, and one to cover all the relevant specialty courses. The commanding officers of those two colleges act together as Vice Commandants of equal stature under the Academy CO.

All sub-colleges that oversaw rank courses have been eliminated and all the rank courses are administrated by the main line CO.

This order establishes the ground forces academy which brings together RMMC and RMA.

Directive-007-23.1: The Ground Forces Training Command (GFTC) is established under the 6th Space Lord.

Directive-007-23.2: MAJGEN Bill Farley (RMN-1885-14) is appointed Commandant and MAJGEN Jackie Stuard (RMN-1885-14) is appointed Chief of Staff.

Directive-007-23.3: RADM John Brice (RMN-6355-20) is appointed as Vice Commandant - Mainline Training College. All RMMCTC Rank and Staff College instructors, and KR1MA Rank course instructors are transferred and ordered to report to RADM Brice.

Directive-007-23.4: COL William Plasse (RMN-2616-16) is appointed Vice Commandant - Ground Forces Occupational Specialty College. All RMMCTC TSC chairpeople and instructors are reassigned and are to report to COL Plasse.

Directive-007-23.5: While RMMCTC and KR1MA no longer operate independently, instructors may continue to wear RMMCTC and KR1MA uniform patches if they instruct those branch courses.
