SphinxCon was a literary military science fiction and fantasy convention held once, in 2018, in the Atlanta, Georgia area. It was co-sponsored by The Royal Manticoran Navy: The Official Honor Harrington Fan Association, Inc. (TRMN) and STARFLEET, the International Star Trek Fan Association, and was one of two "daughter" conventions to grow out of HonorCon after that convention's name was rested following its 2017 event — the other being FantaSci in the Raleigh area.

Centered on the Honorverse of David Weber and related military science fiction, SphinxCon brought together members of the Royal Manticoran Navy and the wider fandom; reflecting its joint sponsorship with STARFLEET, it also drew a substantial Star Trek fan community. It was TRMN's first and only convention held in Atlanta, and was not repeated.

2018

2–4 November 2018 at the Crowne Plaza Atlanta Airport in Atlanta, Georgia. David and Sharon Weber attended as guests. Reflecting the convention's STARFLEET co-sponsorship, Axanar Productions' "Axacon" was held alongside SphinxCon as a convention-within-a-convention, bringing guests and props from the Star Trek fan-film community.

Awards

TRMN members earned operational awards for their participation, including the Silesian Anti-Piracy Campaign Medal; one division alone sent 27 members to Atlanta, amounting to roughly 15% of the convention's total attendance.[1] Participation awards for members of the 1st (Home) Fleet were issued on 5 December 2018 under 1st Fleet Directive 1902-01.[2]
