HMS Iwo Jima (LTH-06) was a Guadalcanal-class Heavy Amphibious Transport of the Royal Manticoran Navy, the first ship commissioned outside the United States and long the sole ship of the Seventh Fleet. Based in the Czech Republic and crewed by members working in coordination with BatCruRon39, an allied Honor Harrington fan group, she was commissioned in 2011 and served nearly nine years before her decommissioning on 19 March 2020.
History
Iwo Jima was brought into commission on 23 April 2011 under the command of CAPTJG Jan Cabrnoch.[1] This ship was the fourth ship ever to be commissioned in TRMN and the first (and for a long time, only) ship in Seventh Fleet, based out of Czech Republic. Despite there being an active group located in their country, they chose to join TRMN, due to a dispute within HMS Phantom. These more military-minded members already participated as US Marine reenactors, so they only agreed to join if they were allowed to keep their marine status. So they were given the designation of Transport, which was later canonized by the Creator himself.
Formally commissioned at Festival Fantazie 2011 in Chotebor, they have been one of the most active chapters in the organization, becoming the frequent focus of many newsletters since their commission. After the loss of HMS Loki, that ship's commanding officer, Commander Kveta Tonova, was reassigned to Iwo Jima.[2] They annually have an "Iwo Jima Training Camp", organized usually during August in the area of Camp Sawmill in Chocenická training grounds near Pilsen. (Started in 2012.) This event is focused on the development of theoretical and practical skills in the field of military and airsoft. This event is led by members of the chapter, who for years moved in airsoft reenacting. They took part in Festival Fantazie, BloodCon, and the two state visits the Prime Minister made to the Czech Republic.
In January 2017, Iwo Jima was assigned to the newly established Andermani Station under RADM Jan Cabrnoch, alongside SMS Buddenbrock.[3] She was decommissioned on 19 March 2020, her naval crew transferred to HMSS Greenwich and her Marine detachment to the Royal Manticoran Marine Corps headquarters.[4]
