A namespace is a prefix on a page title that says what kind of page it is. When you see a colon in a title, such as
Orders:Admiralty Order 1305-01, the part before the colon is the namespace. This page explains the ones you will meet and when to use each.Pages with no prefix are in the main namespace. That is where the wiki's actual articles live: ships, echelons, peerages, awards descriptions, and so on. Everything else uses a prefix.
The namespaces you will use most

Each namespace has a matching discussion space, such as
Talk: for articles or TenthFleet talk: for project pages. Use the Talk page to discuss changes without editing the page itself.Specialised namespaces
The wiki also carries namespaces for particular parts of the organization. You will mostly read these rather than create pages in them:
- Branch and bureau spaces such as
RMN:,RMMC:,RMA:,GSN:,IAN:,RHN:, and the bureausBuComm:,BuPers:,BuTrain:, and others. These hold branch manuals, for example the marksmanship pages underBuPers:. - Governance spaces:
Parliament:,Lords:, andCommons:. Members:andFLA:for those offices.Sandbox:for practicing edits, andSpecial:for pages the software generates, such as Special:RecentChanges.
How to put a page in a namespace
You do not do anything special. You simply include the prefix in the title when you create the page. Typing Awards:Cormany Star in the search box and creating that page puts it in the Awards namespace automatically.
Pick the right one before you create
Moving a page to a different namespace later is extra work and can break links. Decide where a page belongs first. If you are unsure, an article about a subject goes in the main namespace, and a page about the wiki itself goes in
