This guide shows you how to create a page for a ship. On this wiki a "ship" is a local chapter, and each ship has a hull classification number, such as SD-316. A good model to follow is HMS Medusa (SD-316).

Name the page with the ship's name and its hull number in brackets, for example HMS Black Rose (BC-520). This keeps ships with the same name apart.

Step by step

 1. Create the page using the name-and-hull-number format.
 2. Add the infobox with Infobox-chapter (skeleton below).
 3. Write the opening sentence. Put the ship name in bold and italics with its hull number in bold: for example, HMS Fearless (CA-286) is a Star Knight-class heavy cruiser...
 4. Describe the chapter: where it is based, which fleet it reports to, and its history.
 5. List the command staff and any honours the chapter holds.
 6. Categorize the page, for example and the relevant fleet category.

The infobox

Use Infobox-chapter.

Ship name style
The ship name is always in italics and the prefix is not. The wiki gives you a shortcut: Medusa writes HMS Medusa for you. There are matching helpers for other navies, such as gsn and rhns.

Ship's orders

A ship's own orders belong in the Ship's Orders set. To document one, see Documenting an order.

Chapters grow and rename
When a chapter grows it may earn a new ship name, so the same group can have held several names over the years. Record that lineage in the history section rather than starting a fresh page for each name.
