Sandbox(es)

Wikipedia's Sandbox tutorial

  • /sandbox1 - WiP: Created lists of TRMN Branches & Chapters based off of drop-down menus on registration pages; intent is to link them to their respective pages, partially in order to see which pages need to be added/fleshed out.
  • /sandbox2 - (Future WiP) An attempt to adapt the front/main page of wiki.guildwars2.com (to show activity within the Tenth Fleet Wiki), in a style suited to Tenth fleet wiki.

Reference

Creating subpages

  1. Create a link using the name you want your subpage to be. Example: are awesome would create a subpage to this one. In this case, the relevant URL would end up being User:CMagnani/Widgets_are_awesome. (Underscores are added by the wiki engine automatically, since browsers don't like spaces.)
  2. Save the new edit. The link now appears active, but red, since the page hasn't actually been created yet.
  3. Click the active link. You will be taken to an edit screen to start writing what you intend to be on this new subpage.
  4. Once you've finished your first draft and previewed it, save the page. The page isn't actually created until you click that save button.
  5. Success! You should now have your newly-created subpage.

To Do

Create a wiki community-specific glossary and abbreviations reference pages

Glossary (These terms should pertain specifically to the Tenth Fleet Wiki, not Tenth Fleet itself)
  • Patrol -
Abbreviations (These abbreviations should pertain specifically to the Tenth Fleet Wiki, not Tenth Fleet itself)
  • TFW - Tenth Fleet Wiki
Best Practices Page
  • Do not merge, move, or delete a page without first checking what links to it. Once all links have been re-linked appropriately, THEN you can perform the necessary operation.

Define (page creation):

☐ Redirects to make:

  • Home Fleet > First Fleet
  • Gryphon Fleet > Second Fleet
  • San Martino Fleet> Third Fleet
  • Grayson Home Fleet > Fourth Fleet
  • Seabring Fleet > Fifth Fleet
  • Sphinx Fleet> Sixth Fleet
  • The Imperial Andermani Expeditionary Fleet > Seventh Fleet
  • Basilisk Fleet > Eighth Fleet
  • Torch Fleet > Ninth Fleet
  • Talbott Fleet > Tenth Fleet
  • Silesian Fleet > Thirteenth Fleet
  • GW2 Wiki Reason template tag: Good idea?
  • We need to write a section in Chapter about how to start a new chapter. It would also be good to list chapters within Tenth Fleet (maybe all fleets?) who are in need of additional members. The link from TRMN's FAQ page about "contact(ing) BuShips to open up a conversation about starting a new chapter." is incorrect, and the Bureau of Ships page on mantipedia does have the BuShips email address (buships@trmn.org) on it, there isn't a section specifically addressing how to start a new chapter.
  • create a "Tips, tricks & Techniques" page
    • Explain the concept of nesting Templates within templates
  • Write about case sensitivity in working with wikimedia
    • Example: Privacy Policy showed as a red link when there was a known page for the privacy policy, but the actual link was Privacy Policy (the "P" in policy to the right of the pipe bracket is supposed to be lowercase). Changing TenthFleet:Privacy_Policy to TenthFleet:Privacy_policy made the link go from red to gold. Link fixed!
  • Write about periods when a sentence ends in parentheses. (to answer the question, should the period be inside the parentheses, or outside? Does it matter which popular style guide is being used? (is it different in different style guides?))
  • What I did to resolve the offending content issue:
  1. Put together the complete list of [pages] from all Namespaces that CMagnani created
  2. From that list, went through each and every one, placing an under construction banner at the top, with messaging that original content (& wiki markup, HTML, CSS) would appear above; all the offending content appeared below the banner, and would be completely removed when the banner is removed.
  3. This contained the offending material(s) for removal. Nothing is integrated. Nothing above the banner is copied & pasted; completely original. What this means is that there will be nothing of any other source within the bones of Tenth Fleet Wiki.
  • Submit a deletion request for the Template:Shortcut_box page
  • Should we build in some unofficial wiki editor skill metrics?
    • What constitutes an entry level/new editor skill level, an intermediate skill level editor, and an advanced skill level editor?
    • what skills does an Project team lead possess?
    • what skills does a Wiki Manager possess?
    • What skills does a sysop possess?
    • What skills does an administrator possess?
    • what skills does a bureaucrat possess?
    • Self-assessed testing and/or milestones
    • what tools are appropriate for each skill level to be handling?
      • Which pages from Special Pages would be appropriate for each editor skill level?
  • Do we need to have a mission statement for the purpose of the wiki?
  • Would it be a good idea to place in parentheses next to each listed item under Order of Battle

Example:

Order of Battle

Space Station

  • HMSS Talbott (SS-110): All naval personnel in the Tenth Naval District not on a ship's crew roster are assigned to HMSS Talbott as their holding chapter.

Task Group 92.1

Task Group 92.1 was activated on 8 January 2022 under CDRE Mir Plemmons[1] and is presently commanded by CDRE Duane Kietzmann, RMN.

Battlecruiser Division 961

Detached Units

The following vessels are on detached duty within Task Group 92.1:

Battlecruiser Division 921

Battlecruiser Division 921 received a new commanding officer in February 2023, relieving CAPTSG Sir Christopher Beilby after nine years in command.[4] It was expressly retained when Task Group 91.1 was dissolved in February 2025.[5]

Victoria Station

Victoria Station is the Tenth Fleet's designated station in British Columbia.

Detached Units

The following vessels are on detached duty within the Tenth Fleet:

RMMC Tenth Expeditionary Force

All Royal Manticoran Marine Corps personnel in Tenth Fleet make up the Tenth Expeditionary Force.

Process of TFW Engagement with Other TRMN Members

Not a good idea to be Gatekeeping

  • Do people have to be a member of TRMN to request editing access?
  • Do people have to be a member of Tenth Fleet to request editing access?
  • Is there any criteria that would bar someone from editing access consideration?
  • Members that want to contribute, but not so much as needing consideration for User access as an editor: What is our method of interaction?
  • Members that request User access, what is the process for the deciding factor?
  • Wikipedia Common Core Curriculum: Where should that fit into this process? Is the course completion certificate required before or after gaining User access?
  • What is the criteria for becoming a Project Lead or Wiki Manager?
  • What is the criteria for becoming a sysop, bureaucrat, or administrator?
  • Who is making these decisions: a single person, some members of the team, the entire team? if it's a group decision, what's the criteria for being accepted?
