BayCon is the San Francisco Bay Area's longest-running fan-run science fiction and fantasy convention. Founded in 1982 by John McLaughlin and Randall Cooper as the Bay Area regional SF&F convention, it was held over Thanksgiving weekend for its first two years, moved to Memorial Day weekend from 1984 to 2021, and shifted to the Independence Day weekend beginning in 2022. It is held in Santa Clara, California, at the Santa Clara Marriott.
BayCon is the flagship convention of the Tenth Fleet's area of responsibility. Tenth Fleet Order 2511-01 designated BayCon 2026 a Flag Event and named it the 10th Fleet Summit for 2026.[1]
