Help — how to read, edit, and build pages on the Tenth Fleet Wiki. New here? Start with the Introduction.

Editing

 • Click Edit on any page to change it. Describe your change in the edit summary and save.
 • Practice in your user sandbox before editing live pages.
 • Wikitext basics: italic, bold, Page for a link, label for a labelled link, and == Heading == for sections.

Building a page

 • Search for the title first to avoid duplicates.
 • Start with a bold lead sentence, add sections with headings, and finish with categories.
 • Match the conventions in the Manual of Style.

Links, categories, and images

 • Link generously to related pages; a red link marks a page that doesn't exist yet.
 • Add at the foot of a page to file it.
 • Ask the Wiki Team about uploading images.

Templates

 • Templates such as Order info and News provide reusable formatting; see their template pages for usage.

Basic Editing

Welcome to the team! To help get you comfortable with editing the Tenth Fleet wiki, we've put together an Editing Guide (& Cheatsheet) for the basics: how to make links, section headings, lists, and tables.

Once you've gotten comfortable with all that, you're ready to take the next steps:

 1. Learn the house style. Read the Manual of Style so your pages match the rest of the wiki. In short: put the article title in bold in the first sentence, use sentence case for headings, and abbreviate ranks and post-nominals.
 2. Know where things go. Skim Naming conventions and the Guide to layout before you create a new page.
 3. Go more in-depth. Read the Editor's Handbook in it's entirety, from start to finish. It provides a wealth of knowledge, tips & tricks.

We know, it's a lot to take in at first, but you shouldn't feel overwhelmed. Think of this page as a one-stop shop for most every function of getting help or support with writing and maintaining the Tenth Fleet Wiki. If you're still stuck or have questions, feel free to contact a team member, and we can help you out.
