In The Royal Manticoran Navy: The Official Honor Harrington Fan Association, Inc., (TRMN) the local chapters of the Royal Manticoran Navy are ships. The ship type that a chapter may portray depends on the number of members in the chapter, and the number of officers and their ranks.
The smallest chapters are non hyper-capable:
All chapters larger than the above two are classified as "hyper-capable." Based on the type of ship, there is a minimum number of members, which must include a minimum number of officers, and the Commanding Officer and Executive Officer must each qualify for a minimum rank.
The CO of a hyper-capable chapter is entitled to wear the white beret, and to wear a hyper-star for each hyper-capable ship they have commanded. Additionally, hyper-capable chapters may sponsor pinnaces up to a maximum number based on their size.

Ship types
The type of ship which a chapter may portray is limited by minimum crew complement requirements. Although the fictional spaceship would have a much larger crew (the largest superdreadnoughts might have crew complements numbering in the thousands),the chapter requirements are:

Pinnace
Pinnace In The Royal Manticoran Navy: The Official Honor Harrington Fan Association, Inc. (TRMN), a pinnace is a chapter type available to members who wish to start a chapter, but who have not yet recruited enough members for a larger ship type. The pinnace is sponsored by an existing chapter and takes its name from the sponsoring ship's name, eg the first pinnace sponsored by HMS Merlin would be called "Pinnace Merlin-01" (or "Pinnace Merlin-One"). The parent chapter (HMS Merlin, in this example) lends support to the pinnace in order to ensure that the pinnace will be ready to operate as a full independent chapter.
When the pinnace chapter meets the crew complement and training requirements for a larger chapter type, BuShips then commissions the chapter as a larger ship, and the pinnace is then considered "returned to the boat-bay" of the parent ship.
Since 2014, pinnaces have been commissioned by the authority of fleet commanders.[1] Before that, BuShips issued orders to launch pinnaces.
As Fleet COs also launch Light Attack Craft (LACs), the fleet order commissioning the LAC will also order return of the pinnace to the parent chapter's boat-bay. If the pinnace upgrades to a hyper-capable ship, the BuShips commissioning order for the hyper-capable ship will also order return of the pinnace to the parent chapter's boat-bay.
Pinnaces are meant to be temporary chapter types. There is a time limit for their operation, and they must either commission as a LAC or larger ship by the time limit, or be decommissioned. Template:Pinnaces
Light Attack Craft (LAC)
TRMN chapter type
In The Royal Manticoran Navy: The Official Honor Harrington Fan Association, Inc. (TRMN), a LAC is the smallest permanent independent ship chapter available, and is a Tier 3 chapter per PD-SC-1003 Chapter and Echelon Policy. A LAC requires a minimum of three members, to include a Commanding Officer who has a minimum rank of O-3, an enlisted bosun who is E-7 or higher, and at least one additional member.

Inter-System Shuttle
Inter-System Shuttle An Inter-System Shuttle is the smallest Royal Manticoran Merchant Marine ship chapter in The Royal Manticoran Navy: The Official Honor Harrington Fan Association, Inc.'. The minimum crew size is 2, of which one must be an officer. The officer must hold a Mate's license of at least Fourth Officer.
The shuttle can have a maximum crew of 5 and can carry up to 2 passengers.
An inter-system shuttle is the civilian version of an RMN pinnace.
Courier

The smallest hyper-capable merchant ship chapter, the minimum crew size is 3, of which one must hold a licenses as Master. A courier can have a maximum crew of 10 and can carry 2 passengers.
Light Freighter

In The Royal Manticoran Navy: The Official Honor Harrington Fan Association, Inc. (TRMN), a Light Freighter is a type of Royal Manticoran Merchant Marine ship chapter. The minimum crew size is 6, of which 2 must be officers. One officer must hold a licenses as Master and the second hold a license as Chief Engineer. This size chapter also must have a Certified Bosun.
A Light Freighter can have a maximum crew of 25 and can carry 10 passengers. This chapter may also have one Inter-System Shuttle associated with it.
Medium Freighter

The minimum crew size is 8, of which 3 must be officers. One officer must hold a licenses as Master and the second hold a license as Chief Engineer. This size chapter also must have a Certified Bosun.
A Medium Freighter can have a maximum crew of 30 and can carry 15 passengers. This chapter may also have two Inter-System Shuttles associated with it.
Heavy Freighter

This size chapter also must have a Certified Bosun. A Passenger Liner can have a maximum crew of 1,000 and can carry 3,000 passengers. This chapter may also have four Inter-System Shuttles associated with it.
